The Rules of Baccarat

Nowadays Baccarat is an absorbing game played everywhere. It has always been and is now one of the most favorite entertainments of aristocracy. Practically everyone can afford to play it, as there are some variants of the game like Mini-Baccarat with lower bets.

They play Baccarat with six or eight decks, which make 52 cards on the whole. You are offered to make a bet on the hand that will get the largest number of points.

Players distinguish a natural combination that is considered the best one. This combination consists of 2 cards the whole sum of which is 9. Their sum can also be 8, but this combination regarded as second-rate, though bears the same name. The value of the cards is estimated by a usual principle: six means 6 points; seven has the value of 7 points; pictures have 0 point, ace – 1 point.

If a participant gains over 9 points, 10 points are subtracted from this sum so that the remainder is less than 10.

Let’s suppose that a player has 25 points. They subtract 10 from 25 for two times until the remainder is less than 10, in this particular case it is 5 points.

They distinguish three main kinds of bets:

- Punto – this bet is made on a player’s hand that is to win. The bet is paid 1 to 1. They only subtract a small commission of 5% from your winning.

- Banco – players make this bet on the dealer’s winning. The bet is 19 to 20.

- Tie – they bet on tie, the game is supposed to have no winner. The bet is paid 9 to 1.

On making a bet, a player receives two cards, and another two cards the dealer takes to himself.

~ In case one of the participants including the dealer has a natural combination, he wins and the game finishes.

~ If the sum of points makes 6 on the whole, the participant is allowed to take one more card. In this case, the dealer sticks to the third card rule:

-In case the whole number of the dealer’s points is 2 or less, he is offered a card;

-If the number of his points is 3, he can take one more card on condition that the participant hasn’t taken the card with the value of 8 points;

-If the whole number of his points makes 4, he is allowed to take a card provided that the participant doesn’t have cards with the value of 0, 1, 8 or 9 points;

-In case the number of the dealer’s points is 5, the dealer can take a card, if the participant have no cards with the value of 4, 5, 6 or 7 points;

-If the sum of his points makes 6, the dealer takes a card on condition that the participant hasn’t taken cards with the value of 6 or 7 points.

-If the sum of the dealer’s points is 7, the dealer isn’t allowed to take any cards.

~ In case the participant hasn’t got the third card, the dealer who has 6 or more points doesn’t take it either. If the dealer has gained 5 or less points, he can take the third card.
